Chemical Peels

What are chemical peels?

At Orange County Laser and Wellness Center, Dr. Farag uses chemical peels to help improve the look and health of your skin. Her chemical peels contain a solution that gently exfoliates your skin and stimulates the regeneration of new skin to refresh your look.

Orange County Laser and Wellness Center uses SkinMedica® professional chemical peels, including:

  • Illuminize Peel®
  • Vitalize Peel®
  • Rejuvenize Peel®

Dr. Farag is an aesthetic expert and can determine the best peel for you based on your skin type, beauty concerns, and ultimate aesthetic goals.

How do I prepare for a chemical peel?

Dr. Farag provides specific instructions on how you need to prepare for your chemical peel based on the type of peel you’re receiving and your medical history. She may advise that you avoid various beauty procedures, such as waxing or electrolysis, one week prior to your chemical peel. If you’re using any special skincare products, such as those containing retinol or benzoyl peroxide, you need to stop using them at least three days prior to your aesthetic treatment.

Pre & Post Treatment for Peels

What can I expect during a chemical peel?

Dr. Farag conducts your chemical peel at the office. She begins by first cleansing your skin and then applies the special solution to your face and lets it work its magic for a set period of time. Finally, she removes the peel.

What happens after my chemical peel?

After your peel, your skin may feel tight and tacky and appear red. Dr. Farag advises that you not wash your face until bedtime.

About two to three days after your chemical peel, your skin should start to peel, which is normal and part of the rejuvenating process. The skin peeling may last up to five days and should be left alone to peel naturally. Picking at your peeling skin may result in dry, cracked, raw skin that may develop into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Depending on the type of chemical peel you received, you should start to notice an improvement in your skin within 7-14 days. Dr. Farag may recommend a series of chemical peels for the best results.
